It was well over 110 degrees, but, we figured we’d do it anyways. We watched Strange Creatures (really sick btw) at the shop for the 100th time, then decided to roll out.

Strange Creatures has been playing non-stop at the shop for a week straight

We called up some skaters, grabbed gallon jugs of water, and headed off to the power banks. Fresh off from wrecking his new car, Luke Kimberly borrowed a van to meet up with his crew. He’s happy about it as you can see here.

Luckily, Ryan Daily rolled out to snap some photos in the heat. The spot was a drop down grind then roll down the ditch. The roll-in was scarier than we thought, if you miss the grind and slide out, you’ll leave some skin on the bank for sure. Jeans got ripped, and hands got torn up.

Jon Jenkins doing what he does best

The wax was not holding on the ledge, we would throw a layer on it, and it would end up dripping completely off the ledge. Running off it like water. But, we made the best of it, and let the ledge basically eat our skates alive.

Luke and I agreed the hardest part was getting up the bank to go again. After a fun session, we went to the only shaded area underneath the bridge where Jacey and Andrew started to session a busted guardrail.

After the quick “p-rail” session, we all were on the verge of dehydration. We decided to cruise back to the shop to enjoy some nice air conditioning, and watch Strange Creatures for the 101th time.

We filmed a Revolution Quick Hits Edit from a session we had at Tempe skatepark, featuring Dylan Davis, Tinh Lee, Brian Bina, Mike Dritlein, and Malcolm Heard.

Mike Dritlein actually is moving to Arizona, he arrives back to AZ tonight. He drove 32 hours straight from Chicago. Honey Baked skated TNS last week at Awhatukee, and Mike said he’ll be back for this week’s session at Tempe. He wasn’t lying.

TEXAS at REVOLUTION http://site.revolutionskate.com/revblog/2010/08/12/texas-at-revolution/ http://site.revolutionskate.com/revblog/2010/08/12/texas-at-revolution/#comments Thu, 12 Aug 2010 22:30:14 +0000 Administrator http://site.revolutionskate.com/revblog/?p=852 Texas Skaters Josh Glowicki (RAZORS), Greg King (ONE), Fritz Peitzner, and Micah Simmang came thru Arizona yesterday on their 20+ hour roadtrip from Dallas to San Diego, CA for the SDSF Open. They came into the shop around 6:00 PM yesterday after driving non-stop all night from Texas.

Our friend Greg King has been shooting photos of Revolution team rider Jason Zwack for us for awhile now. We’re juiced on Greg’s pics, he’s gotten really good. After we regrouped at our house for a bit, we headed out to session Tempe Skatepark. Everyone was saying how “nice” it felt in Arizona. I guess having zero humidity in Arizona compared to Texas makes a difference, even when it’s over 100 degrees.

Greg King is shooting Josh for some upcoming deals, and we figured we’d hit up a spot after the session at tempe skatepark. I took them to the legendary “water ledge” (Joey Chase 90 Seconds Edit). Josh is on Razor’s flow, and should have some clips in the RAZOR Video “GAME THEORY”. We’ve known Josh for awhile now, he’s super nice, and really humble. He’s one of those skater’s who doesn’t talk himself up at all, but absolutely kills it.

WATERLEDGE
Water ledge is one of the nastiest spots you don’t want to fall into. We usually wait until it rains, then hit up this spot the following day when the water is extra high. Any photo on this would look good, so it was perfect to try and get something done. We threw some extra garbage in for the photo, and it was ready. After being awake for 24 hours, Josh laced 3 really nice tricks, and claimed the best trick done on it so far. The photos Greg shot turned out really sick, it was a successful night.

The Texas skate scene has always been really strong. Texas is known for producing really sick skaters, so we were juiced to have these guys stop thru Arizona. You can see their skating in an upcoming video by Brian Moore called – “The City that Never Sleeps.” Check out the trailer below.

Featuring Revolution Team Riders Damien Wilson, and Joey Chase. Also skating by Nick Wood, Rob Whitcomb, and Sammy Chase (joey’s brother). Damien built his own version of a “p-rail” in his backyard to train on.

Santee crew: One Minute, One Spot from Be-Mag on Vimeo.

Three years ago, us boys in Santee got pissed that all the good rails around here were capped, and we sucked at hand rails, so we asked our sponsors to help us build a training ground. 4X4, M1, and Remz contributed to us along with our own money to build a practice rail in Damien’s yard. Since then we’ve been having regular legendary BBQ’s and sessions like this one shown were we skate the rail and have good ole American fun. This weekend Damien, Rob, Joey and Sammy Chase and me (Nick Wood) got down like we always do all summer long. When I started seeing the “One Minute One Spot” edits I thought that our weekly BBQ’s were perfect for that forum. If the Internet homo’s want to bust my ball’s about doing a Two minute edit they can do the math and see there is 58 seconds of skating, so suck it from Santee.
