“Can you please stall, we’re running late, don’t start the video until we get there! We’re 5 minutes away”
This is the usual phone call I get whenever we host a video premiere at the shop, and “Five minutes away” always means 20. This also happens when the shop is full of anxious skaters, girlfriends, and parents who’ve been waiting for me to press play for the last 20 minutes. It happens at every premiere without fail, this time it was Arizona skaters Chad Hornish and Kenny Scherf (who both have main sections in CREEP) so I had no choice but to stall.

First Video of the double feature was “CREEP” by local filmer/father Ryan Buchanan. Here is a pic of Ryan and his girlfriend Lauren. CREEP features profiles on Arizona skaters Ryan Daily, Luke Kimberly, Chad Hornish, and Kenny Scherf. Also featuring skating from a slew of local skaters, and cameos from Wild Bill, Matthias Ogger, Joey Chase, The Brierleys, and more. One section that stood out was Kenny’s because it was his first ever video section, everyone has happy to see Kenny kill it.

Luke Kimberly (M1, Casualty) came thru with a solid section for CREEP. It was cool to see Luke’s parents come out to show their support.

After CREEP ended, we had a brief intermission before starting the 2nd Video of our Double feature: The Truth 2.

Jon Jenkins (WAKE UP) rolled out with John Bolino to the premiere. Jenkins is a fan of the The Kelsos filming style, they both are “on the same page.”

DIRT-BOX released their “DB Poker Dice”, and team rider Casey McFarland was all over it. A quick dice game broke out during Intermission.

Arizona skater Tyson Wood with his daughter at the premiere. Sticking it out for both videos!

John Bolino has the first section in the TRUTH 2. Bolino has been here in Arizona for the past 3 weeks. He’s been skating hard, stacking clips for the NIMH VIDEO, shredding our skateparks, and sessioning with everyone. If you ask him what he thinks about Arizona, he says, “I love it here, I want to stay out here as long as possible.”
The Double Feature premiere was a lot of fun. Like I’ve said, video premieres bring everyone together in your local scene, and keeps people motivated to skate. CREEP is going to be released online in the near future, so be sure to check that out. I’d suggest adding THE TRUTH 2 video to your collection if you haven’t already. The line-up of skaters is ridiculous, the quality is amazing, and it was “independently made by skaters.”
